I don't ever remember hearing anything about this last year, but I'm going to check my 2 - 25th anniversary sets tomorrow to see if I have one. They are stating the bullion coin in the set has a double die and they est. maybe 15 K of these. A variety ASE that only has a pop. of 15 K I would think would be worth a good amount of money seeing the 2008 reverse of 2007 fetches a good amount of $.

Hmm, thanks for the notice - worth taking a look-see to find out what mine look like.

15K on a bullion ASE is probably only a single die. At that rate you would have to buy 5 or six monster boxes to have the odds give you a single coin and in truth, they are probably all in less than 50 closely spaced boxes, many of which contain nothing but the DD coins. Apparently, some of the DD coins made it into the 2011 anniversary sets and some went out to APs in monster boxes, with all of them coming from the San Francisco mint (which is a given with a single die).

The 2011 Silver Eagle DDO has ONLY been found in the 25th Anniversary Sets and not in monster boxes.

Frankly it strikes me as a very UNimpressive doubled die. Other than from hype I couldn't see it bringing much of a premium if any.

The Silver Eagle Series has 2 known proof doubled dies. The 1989-S DDO and the 1992-S DDR.

The 2011 DDO is the ONLY non-proof DDO in the entire series.
