I heard of it on the news, I was expecting to see some sort of "vein", or something. I imagine there will be alot of 'tector upgrades as a result of this. Whoda guessed?

I got me a metal detector for Christmas and as soon as this week long monsoon passes my tail is about to go find one of those bad boys with equal or greater dimensions....

That is just so amazing something like that even formed. I would wrap it up and stick it under my bed for a decade not telling a sole. :)

Wow. The guy's hands are shaking showing it off in the video. Unreal to think what is out there just waiting to be found.

Quote: Because you don't live in the outbacks of Australia. Right? Ballarat is hardly the outback, it's a day trip from Melbourne. Also all those looking to buy a metal detector, you would be better to get a gold detector. The tech has changed that much these days that they can tell the difference between gold and other metals. Not cheep though, although a 3-4 ounce find over a weekend will pay it off.

The amazing thing it looks as if it was designed to set on a shelf and display that amazing golden whale tail (or white whale lol) as I too often reference....

I want one. That thing looks like a mermaid or whale tail submersing back into the deep blue sea. I can see a Hard Rock Casino in Vegas buying that thing for display. If it goes to a casino, he'll probably get closer to a million for that big hunk of yellow metal. Sell it, then time to retire and look for more.

Quote: Australia has some amazing gold nuggets. Wow! WOW! is right, Trip. That is incredible. Australia has MANY amazing things. Gotta love some of those opal finds as well... not to mention one of my favorite Aussie products - their beautiful and inexpensive selection of fine wines. Gotta love their Shiraz. It's my favorite and absolutely delicious. Thankfully, the population of Oz is small enough that they have plenty left over for export!

Wow. That's crazy. I wonder how much that nugget would bring at auction...
