Northern Song Dynasty/Chong Ning Zhong Bao 5 cash coin. Cast 1102-1106 during the reign of Emperor Hui Zong (1101-1125). 35mm in diameter and weighs approx 9.5gr. This Emperor was an impressive artist and calligrapher but not a very good administrator. His decisions resulted in the downfall of the Northern Song through defeat by the Jin.

I have one of these also, but THIS one looks good enough to be a seed coin!

Seed coin? (You mean a master for making millions of copies for $0.02/each in China?)

Sorry, just what it sounded like.

A chong ning zhong bao with that diameter and weight would be a denomination "10 cash" coin.

A "5 cash" coin would be smaller, and most Chinese coin collectors consider the small so-called "5 cash" coins to actually be privately-made "10 cash" coins.
