Everyone go buy some! Its wonderful stuff. Low grade romans suddenly have a great shine - the fields shine like a high grade coin.

Ive preserved a whole *ton* of stuff today and made hardly a dent in the 65ml pot. The stuff is fantastic - details jump out, shine is restored to a coin! Its quick, easy and doesn't leave a mess.

Profectio, before and after (note: The picture for the obverse before is the picture taken pre cleaning as the reverse had no descernible features and so no pictures were taken. Its basically that anyway - but greener:

And her it is display ready:

I am thrilled - the soldiers behind are now visible from any angle and stand out - the soldier in front is now discernible, theres a faded outline of aurelius on the horse and - best of all - in ex, you can read (where * represents illegible letters) **CTIO*! Proof at last. Not only that, but the patina is a much more appealing dark colour now! Oh, and Aurelius' bust on the obverse is now visible! So its definitely Aurelius' profectio.

NOTE: A coin in better condition (slightly less wear and complete patina) sold for $600! I wonder what mines worth.. (heres guessing that in this condition, £1)

Ren Wax will enhance some coins appearance and I've noticed it. I only use it sparingly and only when a coin needs it like for BD treatment to seal a coin. I wouldn't use it over a sand patina. Also, for the small 65ml tin can, it's kind of expensive as well.

That particular coin, I think I would seal it as well with Ren Wax.

It is good Ben that you give it value, to attribute it, and value the history behind it.

I got a Constantine I AE follis, London mint (PLN), "MARTI PATRI PROPVGNATORI" in a lot last year. The centres of the obverse and reverse have green "hoard" encrustation on it. No amount of cleaning will remove it without damaging the weak surface. That it was minted in my city, some 1,700 years ago, is enough for me. I cannot expect to sell it on, if I did it would go for pennies. Some coins we find have a value in their history, not in their appearance, I think.
