Im new to this, so I very much appreciate your help.

There is a dent on the rim, if it is Damage or from production I let someone else answer, but the Coin is still perfectly round.
I this a big damage? Could it be from production? Would it be worth grading?
the other side is pretty much flawless.

thank you very much for your thoughts on this!

best regards. Michael

From the image, I'm thinking the rim cut (and nearby building scratch) happened after the coin was produced and likely happened after the coin left the US Mint.

The 1926 American Independence gold commemorative is one of the more common coins of the gold series. In terms of value, it differs only slightly between XF and the lower mint state grades. The coin takes bigger price jumps beginning at the MS-64 level.

Is it worth grading? If you want to ensure that the coin is authentic and/or you want to have a third-party opinion on the coin's grade when you go to sell it â€" then "Yes." If you're thinking about having it graded because you believe it will come back in a high mint state (i.e., valuable) grade, I would reconsider â€" from the images presented, the coin does not appear to be a high-end mint state example.

After what I've read on the subject these couple of hours, I understand that a grading is overkill. Thank you for your reply Commems

Late to this thread ... too much work and not enough time.

I second commem well stated position ... your coin appears by photo to be genuine ... but alas suffers from the rim cut and scratch that would render it into a "Genuine" holder from a USA grading firm.
