Here's a 1925 Lexington Concord half dollar I just bought. Being from Massachusetts I wanted a decent example of this coin so I searched quite a bit to find one I liked.
So here's another you vs NGC... I think it's graded properly but I love these threads as they help with my grading skills.. Lol. And I know everyone enjoys pics, so instead of just saying "look", I thought I'd have a little fun with it!
(On a side note, it seems that these halfs (lex/conc) have been selling between the numismedia/redbook values, usually I find both guides to be rather high but all slabbed examples (and nice raw ones) have been selling over numismedia but under RedBook... Its probably just me but I found that weird...)

Ill guess 63 64 and lean towards 64. Looks a lot like a 63 currently on ebay but your reverse has a little more detail

You guys are right on!! NGC MS-63 (although I think if cracked out & sent in again it could get a 64)

I've learned soooo much since becoming a member here and am learning so much about grading (amongst other things). One of the most important things I've learned is "buy the coin and not the slab"... (Which is also true for the stone mountain I posted right before this one, & IMO more so) but anyways, when I first started collecting I would go by what the slab said, I'd trust it to the letter... and have paid for it a few times. I've since noticed that TPG'ers arn't always right, in fact sometimes it seems they're way off, this is why I prefer raw coins, and more importantly the ability to grade them myself! Which I owe greatly to all of you!

As I mentioned I looked and looked for weeks at 100's of these halfs and being that it is representing my state was looking for one I really loved. I actually passed up on 3 PCGS MS-64's that were the same price, (one $5 less, the other two $2 more) because to me this coin was way nicer!
(Sorry, horrible cell phone photo..)

glad you found one that you liked..Do you mind saying what you picked it up for? I have a decent AU example but wouldn't mind an upgrade sometime. I also have bought coins based on the label holder off ebay and a few have been just ugly in person (all PCGS MS64 Peace dollars). They got traded off.

Mailman28- no, I don't mind sharing at all.
First let me say it was kind of weird... Usually I find both numismedia.com and RedBook to be rather high on there prices (more so RedBook).. But for some reason I've noticed this perticular coin is falling right between the two in recent sales... Normally I'm reluctant to pay over what numismedia lists but for this one I made an exception due to seeing what they've been going for on ebay and such.
Numismedia has the MS-63 at $108.00 while RedBook at $150.00.
This one was listed at $155 or best offer.. And I offered $115 and the seller countered with $125, which I accepted.. There was a PCGS MS-64 for $120, and two for $130, but as I said this one looked much nicer so I didn't mind paying a bit over, also because I believe this one has a solid shot at a 64 (although I'm not planning on cracking it out).

Nathan I actually ran into the same problem when I was looking for mine. In basically every grade literally EVERYONE I found was higher than Numis when usually you can at least find some ugly one below.
