echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 04/16/2007 1:08 pm I've had this coin for sometime now but have not been able to find a refrence to it in Krause or other sources. It's a 50 centavos silver coin from the Philippines when it was still under spanish rule. I can't tell if it's been cleaned but I would grade it as AU. Any info would be appreciated. Term to describe the process of mechanically moving the metal of a lightly circulated coin to simulate luster. Usually accomplished by using a wire brush attachment on a high-speed drill. gxseries Pillar of the Community Australia 3831 Posts	Posted 04/17/2007 07:25 am What raised my alarm are the parallel lines in the fields. If you can see the amount of dirt in the text "POR LA", normally you would expect it to be spread evenly through the whole coin. As well as I somewhat see lines on the bust, which is unlikely due to die polishing. Again, due to the low resolution of the picture, I really cannot comment on much further but it does look whizzed on my first impression. A bigger picture will most definately clear a fair amount of suspicion.
