I just got the CNScope objectives I picked up off of ebay. I originally was just going to get the Metallurgical objective, but the low-end "Achromat" was so cheap, I thought I'd get one of those too, just to test it out. Unfortunately, either it's too crappy, or I got a bad copy, because it was soft and had so much flare as to be unusable.

But, the metallurgical one seemed fine.

Definitely satisfied with the results considering the price. The quality image circle seems to be big enough to cover APS-C OK. To get significantly better you'd have to get something with a higher NA.

Looks good. The 4x achromat I got was a lot better, even rivaling the 4 Plan 0.1 Nikon. I just bought a Chinese 4 PL 0.1 objective on ebay for $10 to check out. Will report results. How many images in the stack on the 57-D?

Yeah, I think I probably got a bad copy, but it's so cheap that it's not worth the cost of shipping back to China to return. But I'm happy with this one, and the working distance is usable too (longer than the cheaper one).

I used 18 frames, but I usually go overkill on my stacks (overshooting both ends and probably using too fine steps). Also, about a third of those were spent working on the rim, which isn't really an important part.

I am having so much fun, living vicariously through you two.

Do you realize how much you've advanced coin photography in the last two years? Nobody else is doing this kind of in-depth lens research for this specific purpose.
