I know it seems like PMD but look at the rim of the coin were the indent is.

hmm... looks almost like someone tried to drill a hole but it kinda looks like a lamination issue as well. I would guess it is PMD of some kind.

Thats what I thought too but the indent is smooth like it was pressed or something like that.

How would you explain the "A" and part of the lower bust still visiable in the indentation if it was PMD?

Hmmm, perhaps it was hit with a punch of some sort. So maybe it is PMD.

Since the legend on the opposite side is flattened, I would guess PMD.

Hi jkol

Not sure if I'm on the mark here, but I'll throw this out: I've seen a couple of coins hit with a low-caliber bullets - a 22 probably - and the effect was very much the same. If your coin was up a gainst a concrete wall when it was hit it may get that effect on the reverse. I don't know if a BB gun would be strong enough, maybe if it was really close...
