These pieces are actually considered as coins by French collectors, rather than tokens or notgeld, even though they bear a close resemblance to both. They are listed in Krause as a coin, number 877. NGC database page.

I don't have a reference picture for comparison, but the "debris" visible inside the numeral "5" makes me think your piece might actually be the 1925/3 overdate.

Wow, that's actually good to know, I actually have one of these exact ones from 1922, it was in my familys world hoard that was left to me that I just finally got around to going through. I was unsure if it was a token/coin as it looked much different from the other French coins! Thanks for clearing it up for me!

i was going to ask if this was a coin or not. I have on, currently in my coin section....guess i'll keep it there. so sounds kind of like the german notgeld coins.
