Continuing with the Jefferson series here is a nice 1945 S for you to play with.
The war series composition really suites the Jefferson design in my opinion. the regular Nickel series just seems flat when compared to nice war time strikes.

Anyway here for your grading practice.
As usual it would be nice if you wrote a few lines about how you came to your grade. it will help the new folks no end.

This is fun, I enjoy the chance to compare my novice grading skills with our resident experts.

The pix are bit on the grainy side but it's a good looking coin. From what I can see we're looking at MS63.

The strike is pretty strong with good detail at the ribbon and the the portico. Most of the steps are present but it falls short of FS.

The field looks pretty clean but the reverse appears to have a few scratches above and to the right of Monticello.

Let's see what the pros think.

Agree with NJBob and the pictures are too grainy to be really accurate. Definitely not Full Steps but close. A few what look like scratches or bag marks on the Rev keeps it from being a 64. Would say 63 but with an absolutely clear image that could change. Still a beautiful coin.

Ignore the grade as they are not MS68, but check out the RPM varieties (not listed on the slab).

Good eye, broken-coin. BTCNTH

I believe this is MS, but not full steps. The steps on Monticello do not look fully formed. There is also alot of chatter (small marks) on the steps and what looks like a couple of descent sized hits on the reverse so I if I were to assign a number, I would say MS63.

Very nice coin nohope! I look forward to you stating what you think it is since you have it in-hand.

One day I will remember to put my glasses on before I take picture.

Sorry folks for the grainy shots here is a much better likeness of coin.
Previous grade revisions welcome

It looks like it may make MS-64. Most of the imperfections seem to be luster grazes or small scattered marks. The patch on the jawbone look like planchet marks.

D0ubl3Eagle I agree with your assessment I too would call it MS64 not that it makes a huge difference as the price difference between 63 and 65 is around $6.
Its still a very nice Nickel
