Posted by Stujoe on the old site......Update:

Just an update that I wanted to put out there... I have been able to load up a shell of the site. I could not get the entire user database or all the PMs loaded or the posts do to the limitations of this small shared server but I have been able to get some up. Basically, users who logged in in the last 6 weeks should still be active and the last 5000 or so PMs are loaded. That is about the best I could do and I am not sure it will totally work either but it might allow people to tie up some loose ends.

I wanted to give people a chance to contact each other about where to go next. I have provided some suggestions. Eventually, I will probably be found at CoinCommunity, CoinTalk and NumismaticPlayground or maybe even somewhere else as well as my old stomping grounds of rcc. For now, though, I am just taking a break.

I also wanted to squash any rumors of a grand conspiracy against CoinPeople. It is really a simple matter of me being in over my head in running such a large site. It has been a problem from the beginning as anyone who has been around through the various, website downtimes over the years can attest to. I am not a server manager but, in order to afford such a large, active site, I had to take on that role do to server expenses. As I said on a number of occasions, I was flying by the seat of my pants and in over my head. It finally caught up to me in that things happened to the server that I could not recover from on my own.

Managed servers are way to expensive and one time support on unmanaged servers is way to expensive too.

I have a copy of the database on my computer and if anyone has any real important need for any posts they can let me know and I will try to load them up. It may or may not work and there is only so much I can post but I will try as I have the time if it is an absolute necessity.
