Found in my purse. Once again I can't tell if this is true doubling. 'LIBERTY' does look doubled to me-- stair-stepping on the corners of some letters, perhaps a bit of that on IGWT, but I don't think there's any doubling on the date. Maybe a subtle line on the 9.

There are 9 different '72 ddos and I think this may be one of the minor ones. I have the digital version of Cherrypickers but the pictures are sooooo small that some are almost useless. The doubling I *think* I see doesn't perfectly match any of those pictures-- maybe it's close to FS-104, 106, or 107. What do you think?

And John1... if you say Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration again you'll hear my scream from thousands of miles away, even if you're right

I just checked my older Cherrypicker's Guide that show nine different 1972 DDO Varieties and your coin does NOT match any in my guide.
I am 100% positive it is a DDO variety and not Machine Doubling, and who knows, you may have located another variety.

I have not viewed the on-line digital edition and would think that all the photos would be high resolution for zooming in.

Not MD but master hub doubling which is common on the 72's. No added value,IMHO.I could be wrong so wait for a pro to chime in.

The more I look at your pics the more LIBERTY looks interesting. Maybe you should send it to CC.

Guess I need to go through each description in VarietyVista. Maybe try some different pictures/lighting too. Hard to take good macros with my SLR due to lack of a tripod. These pics were with my USB scope.

The notching in LIBERTY does not match any of the photos listed.

Also, Prior to purchasing the Cherrypicker"s Guide, I made the mistake of purchasing 3 certified 1972 DDO cents on ebay that cost me $75.00 each.

At the time while collecting errors, I was not aware of the different die varieties and thought there was only one DDO variety.

After receiving the 3 coins said to myself (sometimes the best conversations I have is with myself), this can't be right, and then purchased the Cherrypicker's Guide and found my $225.00 purchase only retailed for $15.00...

It was my ignorance that showed me it was time to educate myself, and Cherrypicker's had paid for itself many times over.

[I also had numerous conversations with J.T.Stanton and even crossed over a NGC MS65 slab into a PCI Signature Series slab]

I was looking at 72's last night and found one with slight notching on the "BE" but concluded based on the rest of the coin it was master hub doubling. Yours is more pronounced but I still unsure.

This is definitely master die doubling. It is a doubled die,but about half of the 72s exhibit this doubling so no premium.
