Coin shops often give neat change away on purpose to promote the hobby, I think he knew what he was giving away. John1

I'm sure I bought a 1966 SMS from him and he had to call his other shop about the price I think the location was set up more for buying gold and silver any way I came out on top I also got another 1976 $2 note but not a star

Two dollar notes have always been one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with that note. Nice catch.

Well if someone wants to trade me a 1967 SMS for the $2 star note let me know and I'll even throw in a 1976 $2 note as a bonus

Minneapolis and Kansas City are the rare 1976 $2 stars. However, any district is a great find at face value.

You can use the Standard Guide To Small-Size U.S. Paper Money, now in at least the 10th edition. That is your best bet.
