While looking at a small pile of very nice 57-Ds there sure were a lot of die chips. Many had filled loops-- in the 9, in liBerty, etc. Are die chips a really common thing in Wheats? seal006 Pillar of the Community United States 1915 Posts	Posted 01/27/2013 10:59 am From 1954-1958 die chips are more common than not it seems sometimes. 1956 & 1957 are the worst years for chips. I have 4 full tubes of die chips from 1952-1959. Some have three chips on a single coin. Realize that a chip is a broken part of the die. Thus every coin minted with that broken die will have the exact same chip. Quality control was not very good at that time either. Just look at the 1955-DDO-001.
