I found this twoonie when buying a book I immediately noticed it was different so I looked closer and applied a bit of pressure and to my surprise this happened, does it have any real value over FV or is it counterfeit.

:-)

If someone don't know how to remove the core, a lot of effort will be needed!

A legit coin that had its locking mechanism loosened.

I am just wondering if it is a forgery.
I know the Brits are having a lot of trouble with forged One Pound coins.

Even though it seems it is forced out I believe I will keep this one for myself and show some people. Its intriguing for someone that has never seen a twoonie in two. That is how to get 2 1 dollars from 1 2 dollar coin.

:-) only the ring worth money: it is where the denomination is stated.

Common freezers don't do the job. You need liquid nitrogen or the right technique - like other situations in life: pressure in the right spot

when they first came out I had some success with a household freezer and then spiking the coin onto a cement floor. of course if it doesn't pop in the first throw it ends up looking like the OPs coin

I smashed a few against the floor at work to get the rings out. I put them back in backwards hehe.
