Poll Question
It's about a month before the 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial silver dollars are to be released and the US Mint has not yet published a selling price for the coins. It appears they are waiting as long as they can to ensure their pricing reflects the current spot price of silver.

The silver dollars last year were $54.95 for the proof version and $49.95 for the uncirculated (after the initial discounts). Silver was $33.99 an ounce one year ago today. Right now the spot price of silver is bouncing around the $31.00 per ounce mark.

Do you think the selling price of this year's coins will be above, below or the same as last year's?

After voting, respond with your specific predictions for each version of the coin. Let's see who comes closest!

I think itll be the same even if silver drops a dollar or two, the mint always takes longer to lower prices then raise them and I'm not even sure 30 would be enough for a drop anymore with some of the other silver product prices

I think the Mint will go up in price, as they have for the proof silver eagle. I'll guess a $3.00 increase in both coins.

I would say a raise in price by $5 for each.

I think the mint will raise prices for no other good reason that they want to get as much for their product as they can. I think the "we will hold off to see the cost of xxx" is another marketing ploy.

I do not have an issue with the mint making a profit, I just wish it were not shrouded in "we try to do the best by our customers".

The pricing for the Girl Scouts coins is now posted on the US Mint website, and the price for each version of the coin has definitely gone up!

The Introductory Price for the uncirculated Girl Scouts coin is $50.95, for the proof $54.95. The Introductory Price for last year's Infantry silver dollar was $44.95 for the uncirculated coin and $49.95 for the proof.

The Regular Prices (i.e., the prices after the first 30 days) for the Girl Scout coins are $55.95 (uncirculated) and $59.95 (proof). These compare to the last year's Regular prices of $49.95 (uncirculated) and $54.95 (proof).

So, a price increase of $5 to $6 (approximately 10%) depending on which version you purchase and when you purchase it.

I'm surprised. I thought they would hold the line and issue at last year's prices considering the current (lower) price of silver.

They seem to be trying to raise the prices on their silver products lately. If making money is the goal I'm not sure it was wise to try it on this one, personally I didnt see this one being a big seller even at the old price
