Hey all! I assume that many of you try and keep your collections well organized and documented. A while back I wanted a spreadsheet that could track my silver coins and give me the total weight and current market value. I created this in Microsoft Excel, and I hope that it may be of use to some of you. Screenshots:

How it works:

You simply have to put the number of coins you own into each category. There is a formula that will calculate the total silver weight for U.S. coins, foreign coins, and bullion. Then another formula will add those three weight categories together and display your total silver weight. Finally, a third formula will take that final weight and multiply it by the current melt value of silver to give you a value for your silver.
Of course, you can add categories or delete them to suit your needs. You have to manually change the current melt value, and that is located in cell block G4 (hidden from view so the document looks nice).

If you would like a copy of this document to use it for your collection, send me an email and I will happily forward it to you. If you use it and run into any problems or do not know how it works, I will help you out with all that as well. Thanks for the read!

I've got a similar spreadsheet going where I track my purchases and trades that involve me getting silver. I also have it calculate my silver holdings in grams, ozt and moles.

I do something very similiar to this for my bullion. Only I also put in what my purchase price was, date of purchase, current value (updated once a day).

The only thing that I have not done is to track my purchases that are placed into an album. Since I have a number of albums and have been collecting for a couple of years, I really have no idea about purchase cost. I am also a poor grader so I have no idea of what both the grade would be as well as what the current value is of those coins.

I think that the best thing I could do would be to itemize my albums into a spreadsheet similiar to what you have there.

It is truly an idea who time has come. Thanks for sharing.

I got the spreadsheet, and tried it out. It works pretty well. It has a few coins I don't have, and missed a few I do. Its calculation and my calculation were less than 1% different.
