I realize that this coin has a Rev that only grades at AG. The Obv, not shown, grades at G. Worse this was, I think a former Pendant coin; as there is damage on the rim at three spots where you would expect solder. All in all not a coin I would normal put on here. Except the "F" in "Half" looked unusual enough for me to take a better look. What I thought at first might have been PMD, is under close scrutiny part of the initial pressing. Closer look at the "F" revel what looks like a split serif. However; my Camera is not good enough to capture this.

Comparing this to standard refrences show that the letters in general are much thicker than normal. Unless of course my references show a different reverse die design.

Looking at most of the letters show that there are notches and 'dashes" under many letters.

I present this not as a valuable coin but as a learning excercise for me and any others who might be interested in these earl coins.

Thank you for any and all comments. But I would appreciate it if a comparison is made with a normal "thin" reverse lettering before the litany of "I don't see any doubling". This is after all a very worn coin.

Couldn't the thicker letters apearence be from the wear amount which is substantial?

Not a Double Die - sorry - although some letters were repunched. Thanks for sharing though. I know the BCCS would love to hear from you and if you'd get an article
written and enclose the images - I'm sure you'd get it published.
