In addition, every time, I used new prez dollar, I was examined by the cashiers as if I am using fake money. Today's incidence is not the first time I encountered.

the thing I love about how everyone hates the new dollar coins is that this is a common theme in American numismatics. The Morgans and the various Barber coins were also not generally liked when first minted. Now, many consider them some of the most desirable coins to collect. The same can be said for many other coins when first minted. I personally like the coins. I don't think that they have chosen the best designs for the various president's images, but otherwise I like the general design. |

These coins are INCREDIBLY UGLY! I for one am sick of seeing dead President's mugs on all the coins. Let's go back to some classic designs or at least something different....

i like them, everyone has trouble adjusting to change, but I think most will come to liking them in the coming years!

yawn ..the 10,000th I hate the look of the GW coin thread. Old news, dead horse ..move it along ladies. Surely there must be a fresh topic on the numismatic horizon.

Personally, I think the widow first lady $10 idea is the best. If the obv of the new dollar shows the coinage image of the prez date and the rev shows the life image of important contribution of him, will that be nice?

i like the back not the front--the only president that looks half way desent on a coin is Kennedy....i liked the Indian Head penny and anything with an animal on it like the Buffalo nickle.An eagle,loon or kangaroo are also nice |

I like the designs and in my store this week all I have are Dollar coins NO PAPER DOLLARS, everyone likes getting them and say they hope I keep using them. So far this week I have used over 500 of them and have more than that for the rest of the week.

If you don't like the threads about the GW coin WHY READ THEM. Some of us "ladies" like them and will continue using the threads.

Why didn't they use Laura Frasher's Houdin design? You know, the one that was suppose be on the Washington quarter before they robbed her? It was Washington that some how some way held that Army together. And yet this is what they give us?--a feeble looking man instead of capable general.  Edited by longnine009

I agree with madspec. With a forum this sucessful, there are too many threads to read them all if you are a new member and topics will be repeated. This forum is for ANY coin related topic. 1st time or 1000th time.

hahahaha ..don't go getting your nickers all in a bunch gals. I love the GW coins and I've spend them daily ..since I bought a box and have to get rid of them somehow. I guess you old timers like telling the same old stories over and over again. WOuld it hurt to come up with an original idea or topic of conversation every once and a while ...yeah.. I guess it would.
What do you think about that got dang upside down letterin...there Bob? I think it's uuuugly.

Well, I can definitely see that when the Adams dollar hits the street that some folks will definitely think it's fake, considering so many of our fellow citizens won't recognize the name as a president of the good ol' US of A! Just wait until we get to Tyler and Taylor and Van Buren! On the plus side, some will actually learn a little bit of history along the way.  |

I personally do not like the design of the new dollar coins. I think they are very cartoonish and look like something you would get at chuck e cheese. I think that the US Mint just wasted a lot of our money and a lot of there time with these coins.
I don't think that they will ever be accepted by the public. I know that a lot of the banks in my area do not have the coins and are not planing on ordering them.

I hate the coins design, UGLY! I hate the lettered edge, STUPID!! I hate the fact that it is disrespectful to George himself. He did not want to be pictured on a coin. He insisted that he was not a king!!! However, I fully support the program as a whole. It's good for the hobby, it could save our country tons of money, and it might just teach a little history. I personally can't wait to see the George W. Bush $1 LOL!
