I was out when the cashiers opened their tills and I see LOADS of Washington dollar coins!!! They were in their own tray next to the quarters!! I might see if they will let me buy them. I am new there so I don't wanna push anything until I have established myself there.

It is just money, so I can't see a problem with buying a few from the tills. As long as it all balances out at the end of the day.

I just want to buy them so I can spend them. I have no intrest in the presidential series, but I am interested in making dollar coins circulate.

"but I am interested in making dollar coins circulate."

Do they have banks where you live?
That's usually where I get my dollar coins and if they do ..that might keep the freak outs to a minimum.

I really hope after a while, cashiers don't give me the confused look any more. Even I don't like the design, it still my choice of cash to spend and try to get more people into the coin collection. Uncle Sam should give us (who keep the cheap metal so that US has some money to spend) some kind of medals for doing his favor.
