I think I have a Large Bust 25 cent in a Proof Set. I purchased at a coin shop for $25.

It looks like there is some spotting on the coin, not sure what that is or if I should preserve the coin. Your thoughts are appreciated.

$25 is about 4 times the going price for a regular '73 PL set.Great to see you came out well ahead on this purchase.Congrats!Don't clean it.

That is a specimen strike large bust. The red fuzz is a giveaway from the double dollar Prestige set.

I would not touch that coin, unless you know exactly what you are doing. Even nickel composition specimen strikes can acquire hairlines if cleaned improperly.

How could a coin shop miss that? My goodness. That's the last place I'd figure you'd snag one of tose.

Thank you all for the comments and correction on Specimen. Is this something I should leave in with the rest of the set or get it sent for grading? I am not sure about best way to protect it.

I bought this a few years ago and never bothered to check considering it came from a shop, now I wish I would have looked earlier and gone back for more, as you never know.
