Yes, no lie. I now have a coin of one of the super-ultra rare Western emperors in my collection! To pay for it the seller allowed me to pay it off in portions, only way I can afford it right now. But the seller (one of my most trusted) was kind enough to send it to me after the first payment, and I received it today! Quote: Flavius Libius Severus Serpentius (Lucania, c. 420 - " 15 August 465) was Western Roman Emperor from November 19, 461 to his death.
A Roman senator from Lucania, Severus was one of the last Western Emperors, emptied of any effective power (the real power was in the hands of the powerful magister militum Ricimer), and unable to solve the many problems affecting the Empire; the sources describe him as a pious and religious man. More info on Libius Severus here: http://www.roman-emperors.org/libius.htmNote: for those that don't know, all coins of him (and any western emperor after Valentinian III) are very, very rare. Libius Severus AE4 (461-465 AD) Obv: DN LIBIVS SEVERVS PF AVG Rev: Monogram of Ricimer within wreath, Rome mint, RIC X 2715 Edit: Here's also a map of the Roman Empire (Purple: Western empire, Light Purple: Eastern empire) a year before Libius Severus became emperor: Edited by VisigothKing 02/01/2013 01:10 am

Fantastic mate Quote: Monogram of Ricimer This is something I've been on the lookout for years since reading about the end of the Eastern Empire, green with envy Your assembling a pretty nice collection of these oft overlooked later Emperors, well done.

Hatter: Not sure what he paid for his. "IF" you can actually find one, about a grand and over.

Thanks all! Very excited to have this coin!
As to the cost of my coin, let's say I will end up paying somewhat more for it than what I paid for my coin of Theodahad.

It was a good amount less than $500, but more than my coin of Theodahad.
Almost forgot to mention: in hand, at the right angle, the bust of Libius Severus can be seen. Has that alien-looking face I've seen on a couple of other coins of him. Was a bit of a surprise since many of these tiny bronzes usually have nothing left on the obverse.
