What is going on? Is this just a chase for immediate return? With the dollar index below 80 AGAIN,you would expect metals to be moving up. I can see moving out of bonds but why out of metals? Not enough of a recent up move to take profits except platinum and palladium. May be another buying opportunity right around the corner. Problem is,I can't find any silver coins at reasonable premiums. I may have to save up and buy more gold. I finally have my 200 ounces of silver and only have 11 ounces of gold.

I'm hoping for a buying opportunity. I have a nice cash back check coming from my credit card that will be burning a hole in my pocket. LOL

I suspect that as the U.S. economy slowly recovers,(albeit debt driven), bullion prices will be stable, relative to the last 4 or 5 years.

They may actually turn out to be a somewhat lack luster investment over the next 4 or 5 years.
That is good, because your employment future may also be more stable.

Bullion investments will still be a preferred defense against inflation.

Hock, nice to hear you have put away a nice amount of silver and gold!

As far as silver and gold, I really see this is a rotation out of gold and silver into other assets such as equities, therefore the PMs will move lower and or range bound for the time being.

As far as the dollar being down and PMs down, many times correlations stop working and this is what you are seeing right now. Gold and Silver are out of favor and lack a clear trend. Eventually they will snap this current price action.

For now, the clear upward price action is in the leader Palladium followed by runner up platinum.

Nonetheless, lower prices mean you can still wade in and nibble a little at time. I really feel gold and silver are one of those assets that you should buy when they are being dumped. Furthermore, I think gold has entered a period where its more than just this shiny metal. Rather, now gold is viewed as alternate currency and that will help support its value.

For me, as a collector of mainly proof silver and gold coins, I see this as a chance to buy more of my favorite coins. No matter where gold prices go and silver, I am not going to stop picking up eagles, pandas, Britannia's etc.
