My husband's grandmother had a 1$ military payment certificate. Series 641. I've done a bit of research on it. Does anyone else have this?

I am seven notes short of the complete issued MPC collection. I have the whole series 641 set.

You can find them for sale on ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Military-Pa.../3418/i.html and you can commonly find them in lower grades in dealer's junk bins. For the most part, they're very affordable, I have about five MPC's myself.

I have one I picked up for a dollar at an auction. Its in rough shape but I thought for a dollar it might be worth it. Learned a bit about them and I think they are pretty nifty. Mine is a series 521 10 cent.

The current issue of "Paper "Money" (published by The Society of Paper Money Collectors) has an good article on MPC Fest, the annual convention for MPC collectors. This years Fest is in Port Clinton OH on Mar 15th through the 17th. There is also an excellent book by C. Chambliss titled "A Concise Catalog of U.S. Military Paper Money Certificates". Fully illustrated with price guides its an excellent book about MPC's.

www.papermoneyworld.net is the best online source for information about MPC.

Thanks for plugging the MPCFest, Jimjumper. This will be the ninth MPCFest for me. I went for the first time in 2004 and have been back every year since except 2011 when a medical issue kept me away. There is no other experience like it in all numismatics.
