Here's an example of a truly Mint state dime.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1895-S-10c-...em51a7c03ca3
The one that I first posted about is clearly a lower grade around fine maybe better.

seal, the first coin shows no luster or "cartwheel effect". also it shows obvious wear, therefore, not even close to "ms+++"

If you look at the headband, in a mint state example all of liberty will be showing. In this previous example only the LIB was showing, that is one of the easier ways to notice wear.

Nope what he is saying is the first coin's seller is overpricing that coin by 400% or more.

I would not grade the first as a FINE. No split band on the reverse bow. Three letters of "Liberty."
A VG+, and only with prejudice.

To seal4913,
Well, this is not a coin anywhere near mint state. It is common.
Perhaps the seller chose the wrong photo.

Here's a link to PCGS Photograde which helps to give a visual of the different grades for Barber dimes (you may have to click on dimes and then Barber dimes depending on where the link takes you).

@MattewVincent

I'd say they chose the wrong pic too, but the seller only has a feedback score of 2, so...

That seller is either ill informed in numismatics or a crook. I say this as the 1914D Barber (IMO) grades no higher then a fine, and when I checked his past auctions noticed that he sold 2 High Relief 1922 Silver Dollars at $70.00 each.

Any educated Peace dollar collector knows how rare 1922 High Relief Silver Dollars are and this seller may be playing on bidder ignorance.

[maybe I'm overreacting]

I would say this seller knows exactly what he is doing. And, as mentioned already, is looking for an inexperienced collector to buy his over priced, improperly described coins.
