A while ago id started one of the intercept shield type sets since theres no 7070s available. Just recently looking at it I noticed that some of the modern coins had started to tone, I really hate toning on modern silver coins so now it looks like it will be time for me to make the switch and do a slabbed type set.

None of the coins in my set are of that high of value, when possible I would keep them under 150 for a nice example with a few exceptions like the Seated Liberty dollars where it would have been impossible.

Some of the modern coins Ill just rebuy already slabbed for a few bucks as opposed to wasting the money sending them in like the pennies, but the nicer and harder to find ones Ill send in.

Kind of disappointing since I do think its cool to have an album with everything in it like that but already having had a civil war dollar, a baseball half dollar, and a Peace dollar victimized by toning Id rather not risk the rest. Havent had any problems like this with my danscos with the slipcases and theyre all stored in the same area so fingers crossed.

When I started the type set I decided to go all slabs as well (getting them all in NGC EdgeView slabs for uniform look). Chose slabs over albums so I could define my own set.

I also wanted albums, so got a bunch of the Lighthouse "Encapslab" album pages:

They make albums to slide these pages in, but I have mine in three 3-inch binders from BCW. Between each Encapslab page, I have a single clear plastic sheet that includes a sheet of loose leaf paper, setting forth what goes in each location of the corresponding Encapslab page. Each 3-rig binder holds about 5 Encapslab pages.

Much bulkier than a Dansco or Intercept Shield, but it works for me, and I've never tempted to crack out I put in an album.

I do love those pages I have them so some of my other series, the only advantage I liked for the album for the type set was just being able to have it all in one album. I've used the lighthouse binders for them but none of them hold more that 54 coins which will mean two albums to complete the set.

Not ideal but much better than losing more coins to toning.

Come to think of it now I think I will tweek the set some since I dont have to fill holes anymore and add a few more of the modern coins. This may not be so bad after all.
