I got this coin from a guy at the Denver coin show who had what was then called the "world famous bargain bin." I got it because it looked interesting and different but do not have a clue what is is.

It's a bronze dirham from the Artuqid dynasty, which ruled what is now northern Iraq 800 years ago. The Artuqids and other nearby states were unusual in the Islamic coinage series for issuing figural or pictorial coins. Yours seems to match this one on zeno.ru which dates from the rule of Najm al-Din Alpi, circa AD 1165-1170.
