solotime Pillar of the Community United States 2311 Posts	Posted 02/05/2013 11:27 am I been having trouble finding the right size for my $2.50 dollar gold coin. Can someone please help me? I will take my gold coin with me tomorrow to my dealer and ask him for some air-Tight holders if he got them. I tried finding them on websites but not all them state what coins they are for. So if you could tell me the size, I should be able to find them. I'm not sure if my dealer sells them that why I haven't tried that yet. But he's only there on Wednesday if the weather is safe. Perhaps, I do plan on buying some for my American silver eagles. They're in junky holders. 1912 $2.50 gold coin. Report this Post to the Staff

sheeptotherescue Valued Member United States 154 Posts	Posted 02/05/2013 11:54 am Perhaps someone with more knowledge and experience will come along and say otherwise, but I believe that you have to get an airtite with the ring holder, in the size 18mm. They don't make a "direct fit" (meaning just the coin and the holder) for the quarter eagle it seems. It's a black ring holder sized to fit the 18mm size of US quarter eagle coins. As sheeptotherescue indicated, it is available directly from Air-Tite. I put them inside but I got 4 left over for the 18mm. I think I'll put some high grade dimes in there. Would it be safe to put proofs inside the air-Tite holders? I really see no reason not to. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 02/10/2013 06:50 am I use recycled acrylic screw capsules, available at most coin dealers that I frequent. If you can't find a small enough capsule, use a ring insert made of clear non PVC cut to hold the coin, and to fit inside the capsule with it. A ring insert could be cut from material recovered from a broken slab. However, with gold coins, these capsules are probably not worth bothering with.
