Oh and if I did buy from Broadway Coin, that coin would be nearly $520 after our California taxes. That's another reason I buy on ebay or online.

Santee....I just thought maybe if you could negotiate a little bit and then paid the sales tax you would come out OK. Just a thought.

Yeah thanks for the tip. I've never negotiated with a coin store before. lol. I've only been to a coin store once, it was actually that store. And it was when I first started collecting a couple years ago. Didn't know you could negotiate.

And it's cool to see someone from my same area. I grew up in spring valley and my wife is from la mesa. I've had friends in santee as well. There are actually a few other forum members from around here as well.

That store will negotiate on the prices, but not on sales tax. I have found that most, if you pay cash will pay the tax for you.
I like ebay as well, although it is sometimes hard to tell the true condition of a coin on there.

FYI, There is also a new store that just opened in Lakeside.

I always ask....Is there any room on this? Or....Would you work with me a little on this one? and see what they say. You may like their answer you may not, if not ask if they could do......( fill in the blank) and see what they say. Keep it very light hearted and cordial.

I would be looking to pay somewhere between $450 & $500 for a half eagle in the grade you are looking for. Try for $450 or so and if you can't score one for that you may have to raise your offers.

The new BM is Lakeside Coin & Currency. It is on Woodside just east of Wintergardens.
