Get a pencil and draw a ring arpund any other $1 coin. You will have somethin that looks the same. For some reason its very common on $1 coins.

this is not pencil or dirt its the same size as a 10 cent coin and there is a second rim or lip so I dont understand what you mean just tryed pencil dont look nothing like what I have sorry if I seam dumb

It is really common to see on early $1 coins. Often it is dirt or pencil marks. It is definitely not a mule anyway. If the inner rim was that of a 10c obverse die then the lettering would not be right on the rim. No Australian coins have the legends touching rhe rim, there is always a gap.

Very common on early dollars. I wonder if there was some soft metal on the rolling machines back then. I used to see it all the time on coins out of the pokies.
