Hi All

I am having difficulty IDing the coin, it looks like a counterfeit as it still has gold coloring on it and as you can see, it clearly is not gold.

Its 1.5" in diameter and quite heavy.

It has the coat of arms on one side showing the unicorn and lion on either side of the shield, crown on top (although worn) and a lion on top of the crown.

The otherside is puzzling as there is no head of a ruling monarch.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Philll

I'm thinking that that reminds me of coins issued by the (British) Honourable East India Company.

Hi Peter

Thanks for your reply Peter.
It was found while metal detecting in the UK.

I can see why it would remind you of the above.

Its most puzzling.

It might be a token rather than a coin - possibly even a button off a milatary uniform - though I don't see evidence of that from the picture of the back.

I don't think it can be a token as it has the royal crest on one side. I didnt think tokens carried the crest because they were not actually legal tender.

Hi

Does anyone know if a British Token can actually have the Royal Coat of Arms on it?

Thanks
