This coin aboncom is selling as a VAM-79 is definately not a VAM-79 http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-7TF-SGS-GR...AR_W0QQitemZ300101554775QQihZ020QQcategoryZ39465QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The VAM-79 has a long arrow shaft and the leaf on the olive branch is disconnected on the reverse of a VAM-79 which neither this coin has.I have been contemplating emailing the high bidder to let him know but wanted to know what others think I should do if anything in this matter
Rest in Peace

Bryan, I'd send an email to Aboncom letting him know that it's not a VAM-79 and your analysis. I doubt it would do any good since Aboncom is a scammer of high degree, but you will have made your point at your end. However, emailing Aboncom would alert him and likely identify you if you were to also email the high bidder.

First alternative: report the auction as misleading and/or fraudulent.

Second alternative, I'd do as you thought: email the high bidder despite ebay's rather naive (read: stupid) rule about auction interference. Despite its protestations, ebay does have a responsibility to protect bidders and buyers, a responsibility it has abrogated. SOMEBODY has to protect the buying public and if ebay won't do its job, then it should step aside and let others do it in their stead.

here is what the reverse of a "real" VAM-79 looks like and as you can see in the auction photo's it doesn't have these characteristics

Post Script: I filed a report with ebay using your data. On rare occasion, ebay will pull one of its PowerSeller's auctions if it receives enough reports.

I just didn't know what I should do if anything because I know that is the only reason that coin is already bidded up over 170 dollars because someone is taking their word for it being a VAM-79 which is the second rarest B1 Reverse 1878 Morgan there are
