I was wondering if there were certain banks that used the clear Brinks wrappers or is it generally up to banks in your area.

Right now I use wells fargo and they have loomis.
I asked if they would order halves for me and they said no.

So I am on the search for which bank I would like to open, another account with and if I could, would like to choose one with brinks wrappers

Meagan - I would try another branch and ask for the commercial or head teller. If they say no ask them if they can't order them for you or they just won't. I hate to get the run around and know they have plenty in stock to provide.

The wrappers depend on who each particular bank has contracts with for armored services. Some are Brinks, Loomis, Garda, Dunbar etc...

Good luck and let us know how you do.

BofA generally uses brinks clear wraps, but that's not a good thing, in my area, if you're looking for silver. Cents and nickels do well though.

Go with whatever bank you have the most money in. For me, I walked in and said, "...if you don't do it, I'm taking my money out." I was sick of the baloney!

They did it.

I am in the same shape you are Meagan. My bank told me they could not get half dollars unless a customer brought them in. I am going to try to go to other banks even though I don't have an account there. Who knows, they might come through.

Bernie - good advice, when you are to the point and honest they are usually willing to work with you. Having a few assets parked there usually offers some bargaining power.

All in all, if you get turned down at one branch try a different one. In my experience, many tellers do not know you can order halves so they automatically assume these are not available. But having worked for a bank for almost a decade, I know firsthand they can order these and the armored carriers have more than enough in supply to meet demand. It's funny because one of the banks I go to has told me they cannot order these also. However, when I go to the next branch a few miles away, they were more than happy to order for me. Keep trying!

Also, Wells Fargo is a huge bank with a large branch network. They most certainly would have these in stock. I find it best to go into a branch and casually request that you would like to place an order, like you do this frequently and usually there is no problem. I would try a few branches, ask for the commercial or head teller and see where this takes you. Good luck!

Absolutely, silver.

Bank of America was a general pain about it. They would do it, but give you a big runaround...never having the boxes on time, etc...I gave up on them, but they made me so mad, and another bank had told me if I had an account, they could order them. So, I was just p.o.'d enough to be assertive with my bank and they have been ordering for me for over a year or so, every week.
