I pulled some different looking coins out of the dealers junk box. At first I thought they were going to be from Nepal because of the Trident. Apparently they are from Kutch and they just use the Nepalese calendar.

At first I thought it was this coin, but the letters are very different. It doesn't match the coin in the World Coins Catalog either.

Can anybody explain?

I haven't checked every little character, but it matches the description in my book of:

Y#80
Adhio (1/2 Kori)
1943 - 1946 (VS1999-2002)

I think yours has the date 1943 on the lower left reverse and 1999 on the lower right obverse.

wheatiefan: You are correct that it is Y#80. What had me confused is that the year (1999) was in a different script than what I could find listed in date convertors. Once you got me on the right track I was able to find information about the different types of scripts used to represent the Nepalese calendar. Thank you!
