Not an overdate.

Here is an example of one I sold a little while ago. The overdate is very clear http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...230909768370

An EXTREMELY good article was written on the 1933/2 overdate here: http://naa-online.com/pdfjournal/Vo...icle%202.pdf

Long time since I have seen an overdate penny closely, not my speciality.
However, from what I can remember, this is not an O/D.
There seems to be a minor dig in the field in front of the 2nd '3'.

With serial's coin I would take a scan then zoom in and see if there is an overdate.

I agree - sorry serial, not an over-date.

There are a lot of sellers on e*** calling every single 1933 they see an overdate at the moment.

The example supplied by squire is a beauty.

There are a few subtle variations to the overdate 1933/32 penny, however, every one that I have seen has had at least a light overhang past the end of the last 3, and the inside edge of the top of the last 3 appears slightly doubled.

Of course, in lower grades, the doubling effect can be worn away, however the subtle overhang will always remain. (in my experience).

... actually, in the past I have been wondering why only the upper part of the "2" (in the date 1932)shows in the "overdate" coin .
The article that enworb recommended explains this very well. In particular, check the reference to the "steps in the production of penny working dies" .

If you found that article interesting there are much more like it here: http://naa-online.com/

If you click on publications you will see all of the journals. Click on one and find yourself to the contents page. Once there you can click on an article that looks interesting and youll be taken to it.
