I'm looking for statistics on the rarity of Canadian Large Cents. How many MS63 1858 are estimated to exist in the world, how many MS62 1858, etc. Does anyone have an online source, or know of a publication that has that kind of information?

I have seen articles in Canadian Coin News that related to what you are asking. Unfortunately all my past issues have been recycled.

Thanks. I dug up what back issues I have and found similar information to what I'm looking for- still don't have exactly what I need though. The articles did tell me that what I really need is the ICCS Population Report. I think a copy is more expensive than I can afford to pay for the few lines of relevant information.

Hi,

Well in ICCS 2007 report, for the 1858 large cents, the statistics are:

MS65 3
MS64 4
MS63 33
MS62 30
MS60 27

Keep in mind those are just numbers for coins seen by ICCS, and not necessarily what exists in totality, in reality in the wild. Population numbers may also be inaccurate due to resubmission. Then there are those graded by other TPG's. Still, this gives a good rough idea.

That's a good point. Does anyone know of a more comprehensive census of Canadian coins?
