In the unlikely even that's real--I wonder why the owner didn't get it conserved? It has pretty bad verdigris or possibly "bronze disease", ie aggressive corrosion.

Even if corroded theyre worth a heap of money. Worth more with some corrosion rather than with signs of cleaning I would suspect.

Yes--I've learned as much from reading this forum. I've seen this kind of chalky-blue corrosion on ancient coins; it's a runaway process that digs pits into the coin if not stopped. Or perhaps it was left in that 2X2 in really humid conditions? Just wondering aloud, because the photos don't show much.

Wasting time talking about the coin but yeah, relatively new 2*2,why wouldn't you photograph it out. I haven't seen any for a while but altered date 23 halves often had verdigris growing to hide the date,i think they just put a donor coin on top for a few months to get it going but some smartie has probaly figured a chemical shortcut.

Robster, I would love to see a pic taken of this with your new lens. Although I can't see it clearly as I would like, I'm sure that 3 is the 3 of a chinese fake.
