Hello good fella's, it's been a while.
While taking the bus yesterday I checked the rejects (as I always do) for the odd coin. Today, I found a 2005 toonie, but upon taking it, I noticed the inner 'gold like' piece with the polar bear on it was very loose. I remember my grandfather telling me that when they first introduced the toonie in '96, it was not too uncommon for the polar bear to fall out. With his words stimulating my curiosity, I tried pushing the bear piece out and to my suprise out it came. I now have a 2005 Canadian $2 piece missing the inside piece (I have the piece from inside it's just not intact.).

Sorry there are no pictures, currently working on finding a camera somewhere.

Cheers!
Harry

Very good chance it is one of the 2004 2005 counterfeit toonies. A photo would confirm.
Check the look of the reeding edge. The fakes are poorly done.

Is it bent? I found a geniune but bent toonie once and I could push the center out. I have a couple of those counterfeits too.

The edges aren't really like that, but I did find it in the rejects which probably means the weight is wrong. Probably a counterfeit.
Rest in Peace
