I have been 'sorting' pennies for about a year now with a coin sorter. I ran across a 1974 penny that absolutely defies the rules. The coin sorter (or comparator as some like to refer to it) rejects this penny every time. It seems to think it's the same composition as 1983 and up. I ran it on 2 different sorters and always get the same results. It looks just a standard 1974 penny that's been in circulation. Anyone have any thoughts?
Rest in Peace

Did you weigh it? Should be 3.1 grams.

Haven't thought about that, will have to try and find some one with a scale to weigh it. Was there any 'non-standard' 1974 pennies made, other than the aluminum? I know it can't be aluminum since it has the general appearance of a copper penny...and besides.....I AIN'T THAT LUCKY!
