Dominion Of Canada 1900 note, 25 cents As I know not much about notes and even less about notes from Canada (I got this note from a saleroom since it came together in a wooden box with some coins that I was after): What do you think is the condition of this note (has some dents but was never folded) and what can I realistically ask for it? Nice bill. I can see some signs of a horizontal fold. I think it has just been flattened over the years. I think $40-$50 is a fair asking. Its signed by Saunders, so that help the note as well.

I would say VF from the pictures. Maybe a VF30 but can't tell crispness from pictures :-). Price guide is at http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-...900&id_cat=5 . You can see the Saunders note starts to show a bit of a premium in the VF+ grades as AZTAMT said. • XF (Extremely Fine) - A very attractive note with only light handling. May have a maximum of three light folds or one strong crease. Paper is clean and corners may show only the slightest evidence of rounding. There may also be the slightest sign of wear where a fold meets the edge. • VF (Very Fine) - An attractive note, but with more evidence of handling and wear. May have several folds both vertically and horizontally. Paper may have minimal dirt but is still relatively crisp and not floppy. There are no tears into the border area, but may show slight wear. Corners also show wear but not full rounding.

Wow thanks a lot. Another website I shall bookmark!:) Then again catalogue values are irritating, recently I sold some coins for way under their catalogue value and some way above their catalogue value... It's all about how much someone is willing to pay for, and at auction sites you need at least 2 people who really want it but this one I think I will risk the 40p insertion on ebay and try the "Buy It Now":)

I did just list this under my user account 09nils on ebay if anyone's interested. Out of curiosity and to learn more what does the '29' in upper left corner of obverse stand for? And on reverse there's a '15' in lower right of the green stuff, what's that?

Those are the plate numbers for the front and back.

Nice note. I regularly get $25-$40 for these in much worse condition on ebay

kuh_85: If they are the plate numbers is there a premium when you have one with matching numbers? Personally a 1/1 would be kind of interesting unless numbers never ever ever matched on front and back plates and they are always different.

I just love Dominion of Canada notes, these in particular. I actually bought one of these for myself, and for my secret santa, along with a NFLD Quarter. I thought it was a neat combination.
