I came across this interesting 1983-D Quarter today. Thoughts? Please discuss and educate me on the possibilities. Fake? I don't know why anyone would, but I freely admit I don't know alot of things.

Hopefully these pictures are decent enough. It's nearly the width of 2 regular quarters placed together...accurately I'd say 1.5x. The copper edge is smooth around the entire coin. There is nothing on the coin, the date and reverse have copper showing through the rim. Smaller than a regular quarter (not by much) and lighter. Pictures I hope speak for themselves. Any help and discussion is greatly appreciated.

to CCF. Sorry but not an error,it's what is called a " Dryer Coin". The coin got stuck in a commercial clothes dryer. We see a lot of them here on CCF.

Thanks John! I've never seen one oddly enough. A quick search of "dryer" and Jolla 415 results! Got a good laugh at myself that I spent way too much time on Google searching for errors, quite the crash education though, interesting what's out there. Thanks again for the reply.

FYI the word is Viola. It's French. Pronounced: vwala

Viola: Used to call attention to or express satisfaction with a thing shown or accomplished.

We Americans love to change French words we can't pronounce. Another good one comes from a French army officer (circa 1849) Claude-Etienne Minié who invented a bullet that bears his name. The bullets are supposed to be pronounced like his last name: 'Minnay Ball' but we say 'Minnie (or mini) Ball.'

52Raymo,

Oops.

I forgot the rule 'O before I except after I'm an Idiot.'

Too bad I can't blame it on Dyslexia. I get a C+ for being close.
