Those of you who can't read German may not appreciate the joke:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Maria-There...em48512b2d55

He is guaranteeing that the coin is an origional 1780 strike despite that fact the coin screams "made in the 2Oth century". At the very earliest it was struck in 1853.

An origional it is not!!!!

I don't think anyone would list on ebay with a starting price of 1 euro if he truly thought it was catalogued at $6500.

Is it even genuine ?
Buyer beware.

"... da ich auf diese gebiet keine Fachmann bin..." [I am not a specialist in this field]

Und er ist ein huckster, carney, flim-flam man, English has a LOT of words to describe this kind of person. [And he is a ...]

An original restrike? He must mean that!

austrokiwi is our resident expert in all things Maria Theresa related. My "go-to" guy.

So, liebe Münzexpert, If I may steal this post a bit, I have a MTT in Basal Condition that I purchased in Sahr, Chad in 1973.
Somewhere in my house. Long buried. When it surfaces I'll want you to give me an opinion.
It has a hole in it and strung with what MIGHT be elephant hair as to make a necklace.
Long ago I snipped a bit of the "hair" and burned it. Sure smells like burning hair!
Organic and not plastic.

Back on topic. Is it fair to say that the Thaler is just about the oldest
and longest lasting bullion coin in existence?

Melt value is what it is worth, nichtbar?
