So I was looking through this box of coins of my great grandfathers and this one in particular caught my eye, because it was obviously the oldest and probably most valuable. Any help would be apreciated I want to know if it is authentic!

Thank you for adding the photo. In my humble opinion that does not look like any real 8 Escudo Cob that I have ever seen. Have you weighed the coin? Is the discolored area on top of the surface or is it showing the true color of the coin under a gold colored wash of some sort?
Your coin appears to be struck with the same die as a well known fake known as #FC53679 and listed in the Daniel Sedwick site under "modern pirates" where he lists known fake cobs.

The coin is without any doubt a forgery - I recognize it and have a couple someplace I got for nothing.

By the way your picture of what I call the reverse is upside down.
