I'm a big fan of 100-ounce bars. They look nice, stack easily, have lower premiums than 1-ounce bars and coins and (hopefully) are still small enough to liquidate easily if I ever needed to.

1000-ounce bars are just too massive for me, even though the premiums are even lower. I don't want something I can't carry to and from my safe easily. That's one of the reasons I have stopped buying monster boxes (even though I can open them up and transfer individual rolls if necessary).

@sdcrow---You refer to "parafilm." Is that like Saran Wrap, shrink-wrap or some other such clear plastic wrap?

FF, it is a malleable plastic film that is cohesive and waterproof. It is a little expensive, but since it stretches, a little piece goes a long ways. Here is a picture of parafilm around 10 one oz bars. The next picture shows how I stack these to store them in a 2x2 box.

parafilm = wax and is inert, so won't cause your silver to tarnish

@sdcrow--Your 1oz bar storage system is great. This is what I need. The $30-$50 price tag on the parafilm is tough, though.
Would regular supermarket grade wax paper accomplish the same objective if it was securely taped up?

The price is high, but if you bought it once, you'd probably never need to buy it again. If you want to get a 'sample size', it looks like there some legitimate ebay listings selling it 10 feet at a time for $6 shipped. That would be enough to wrap up 600 ounces the way that I do it (2" x 4" per 10 oz). Here's an example of one of the listings:

why wrap them up like that and not just stack in the box? Extra protection? I don't dislike the idea, just curious.

I can't speak for him but personally I'd wrap them as a way to keep track. If you see 4wrapped stacks you know there's 40 instead of counting them all. Easy to tell if 1 goes missing too

I didn't wrap them for protection, but I guess it doesn't hurt. I originally wrapped them as a means to keep them together similar to a coin tube before I realized how well they fit in the 2x2 box. It seemed like an easy way to organize while hardly taking up any additional space. I probably never would have wrapped them if I had them in the box to begin with. But, as basebal pointed out, it also serves as an easy way to keep track of numbers when the box starts filling up.
