Hi everyone, just had a thought and decided to put it out there ...

I'm wondering if there has been discussion previously about dividing this Aussie forum into decimal and pre-decimal sections and then each section has the four main forum topics we currently have?

I guess if it was desirable, then the next question would be whether or not it is actually do-able?

Any thoughts?

Forgot to say that until recently, I was only interested in decimal currency, but stumbling into some pre-decimal forum threads here has sparked a little interest. And then Goatieman23 included some pre-decimal error coins in a bulk lot of coins I purchased from him (thank you very much ) and my area of interest is expanding.

So, given that unexpected exposure, maybe dividing up the forum might reduce the opportunity of randomly exploring new areas of coin-collectorism?

Upon advice from a couple of the founding moderators, the Australian section of the forum was originally split up into five parts, including "Predecimal" and "Decimal" (the others were, as I recall, "Books & Supplies", "Tokens and Medals" and "Miscellaneous"). The current design was implemented a few years ago, to "harmonize" the Australian section with the redesigned Canadian and World sections.

Splitting the current four forums into eight forums is certainly doable, but it is unlikely to happen at the current activity levels. The admins here like the place to look busy and are loathe to further subdivide a section of the forum that is already rather quiet. Nobody enjoys cruising around a whole bunch of subforums with very few posts in them.
