ProfLiz - what reference books do you find the most useful in early coppers like this one? I have Breens Half Cent book (really like it) looking for his Large Cent book), Noyes book on the way from a dealer, Sheldon/Breen Penny Whimsy of course, but wondered what you like? Since you seem to have a great eye on these Half Cents.

the change could have to do with how conservative they may have been in the past and how tight on the grading. I've seen PCGS older holders grade something and then when cracked go up a few points as well.

Hi, westcoin-

I have Breen's and Cohen's books, and refer to them often. I would *really* like Manley's book, but haven't found a copy yet.

I will admit, I am not a variety collector, unless it's a naked-eye obvious variety. (That's part of what I love about Half Cents - there are some awesome naked eye varieties: 1802/0, 1808/7, 1809/6, 1804 spiked chin, and the queen of them all: 1828 12 stars!)

ProfLiz - I see your e-mail option is set not to receive any, send me a message, I know where there is a new copy or two under $100.00 if you're interested.

westcoin-

Well, I am too new a user, so the system did not allow me to send you email.

However, I have re-set my account profile to allow CCF members to send me email.

I'd love a lead on the Manley book! Thanks!
