As I mentioned in a previous post, I am celebrating the return of my first submission to NGC by challenging you all to guess the results. I'll post the answers when my precious package arrives. This is one of the rare coins I bought raw, an 1828 Half Cent, C-2 (12 star) variety - my favorite! It was a leap of faith for me. You will soon see whether it paid off. I will comment that the toning looks smoother in hand.

You purchased raw at high EF price and it comes back in AU55BN from NGC. Nice looking Half Cents!

I'm seeing AU50. The 12 star was the second I picked up in the series! I have a raw '33 I am thinking about sending in. I'll await your results to make up my mind!

I got my package from NGC today, and as promised am posting the answers to my grading challenges. As for this 1828 12-star Half Cent, I am very pleased to report that my investment in a raw coin paid off - this time. The consensus for this coin was EF45, though there were entries up to AU55. westcoin was really close, correctly predicting that I paid EF money, and received back an AU coin. But Tbone nailed it: (I think some of the EF predictions were due to my poor photography skills, which managed to wash out the nice color and luster of this coin. It is much more true to this image from NGC.)

Your photo skills are 1500% better than most ebay auctions I look at. They are in focus and large enough to see everything, just need to work on lighting, so all in all I'd give your coin photos a big Liz.
