Possibly a German planchet strike?

My thoughts exactly.
This coin was saved as it was the first one an older friend of mine got from the bank.
He kept it stashed away with his silver dollars and crisp 1 and 2 dollar bills.

German planchet - no doubt

Have a few scratches in the core - obverse.

I had an aftermarket coin set from 1996 someone assembled I bought and ended up with an ICCS certified ms-65 far 6 nickel.
The toonie I was confident was a German planchet but was mistaken as it came back from cccs Canadian Planchet.

Now, this coin I have shown looked to me like "lemonade time" so I took these photos and have already sent it to cccs along with some other coins. Hoping for German planchet this time.

Thanks for your input SPP and TY, confidence boosted.

Aztamt, the 67 th edition of Charlton described the difference as,
"the two dollar coin stuck (typo in the guide) from a Canadian planchet has a shiny, polished finish that some collectors describe as "oily".
The two dollar coin struck from a German planchet has a dull, matte-like finish, with lines similar to the bullion finish across the ring."

Hopefully this type of quote is allowed to be used here.

I purchased this in the capsule at a flea market vendor today. It was packaged with a card from the Morgan Mint.

That new one looks like a Canadian planchet...

Can you take pics without the capsule?

To note - this is an after-market capsule. Only the proofs were encapsulated originally, and none had an insert.

I popped the top off the capsule and took this shot.

The packaging is 100% aftermarket.

With the coin encapsulated it is not possible to be sure (even with the EXCELENT pictures you took).

I would lean towards a Canadian planchet. To be sure, without removing the coin from the package, only seeing the coin in hand.

The coin in the original post has came back from cccs as a Canadian planchet.

This is the second time this has happened.
