I'm not sure how I messed this up, however, I just listed an I.C.C.S., Canada, 1893, Large cent, MS-63, Red & Brown, on E-bay. I went to check on the coin on E-bay.ca, but couldn't find it. The coin was confirmed listed on "My E-Bay" so I knew it was on auction, but where?
I went to ebay.com and my suspicions were confirmed. It's listed on the U.S. ebay as I.D. >#170993698513<.
I like to keep my auctions for Canadian bidders as much as possible, for the simple reason our coins are our Heritage and it's important to protect them!
Anyhow, thought I'd let my Canadian C.C.F. friends know the error I made and I apologize to those of you I promised I'd sell the coin on ebay.ca.

Glenzy1 You will make more money with your coins selling on ebay.com I only look at that site and not ebay.ca as I have more success selling and buying as well Good luck as it is a nice coin.

I rarely sell on ebay, but when you list a coin, do you choose whether it is just the ebay.ca site or the ebay.com site?

Or is it that if you offer to ship to the U.S. and Canada it goes on both?

I have seen some listings on ebay.com that ship to Canada only.

Between my coins, paper notes, stamps and old tin Eagle table hockey games, I probably could open a small Canadian Heritage museum here in Tennessee!

glenzy, for shipping you show free local pickup in the US,no other options. You usually list in $CDN and include the grade in your title.

I buy many coins on ebay (I have maybe 5,000 Vickies alone)and , of the 9 search filters I use for different large cent dates/varieties, only one is with ebay.ca ... all the rest are ebay.com. Many many ebay.ca coins are listed on ebay.com so I feel that I'm not missing anything. Also, most/many US .com auctions don't really know what they have and are priced/started accordingly ... on the opposite side of the coin, I think that most Canadian vendors think that their wares are worth 3X what they actually are, then are constantly relisted.

In my opinion there at least as many US'rs that collect Canadian as there are Canadians doing the same and they seem to have a great deal of more money to throw as well. I've lived in Canada since '97 and very rarely do I ever even look at an ebay.ca listing for anything. Sorry guys, I think that glenzy was right, even when he thought that he was wrong.

There is an advantage to listing on ebay.ca
If you list in $CDN and include USA as one of your destinations, your coin will show up on ebay.com,and you can state ICCS and the numerical grade in the title.

Searching on ebay.com is more productive as your search will include coins of those who have not included Canada as a destination, and you can often make shipping arrangements with the seller before you bid.

Great coin, great auction. It's really not going to make a difference where you post since the searches will pick it up. You'll just lose a little on the exchange

To DBM:(your comment>) "glenzy, for shipping you show free local pickup in the US,no other options. You usually list in $CDN and include the grade in your title."

Yes, you are right, I think this time what I did differently was I googled "my ebay", then went directly to the sell icon not realizing I was in ebay.com I should have clued in when I was "warned" by ebay prompts not to include the grade of the coin in the title, description and category unless it was a U.S. slabbed coin.

If you're regisrered on ebay.com with a Canadian address you won't be eligible for ebay bucks.

Yeah this has me confused, I buy on both sites. I received a notice on . Ca that the rewards program is ending. Does this mean I will earn program rewards when I buy on the . Com site. I find it so confusing, it was great, I usual got $ 35 each period. Does anyone know if they are axing both programs ? Or is it just the Canadian site? Rox

I believe it is only the Canadian site that the ebay bucks are being discontinued.
